Two years in, living around Loughborough and it's residents.. studying at it's very own university, what have I learnt through those days I've spent here?

Syer, Syaheir and me
Lets see.
  1. When the sky is dark enough, check it again in about 30 minutes, those clouds are just messing with your head but if you're in doubt, don't wear your nice coat out. Instead, grab one of the Loughborough Uni hoodies, the one everyone wears when they really can't be shit bothered of how they look. I own 3 Loughborough uni hoodies, and will be adding probably 2 more to my collection :-)
  2. Couples come and go, friends stick around until you're sick of them and then some. People walk in and out of your life. Accept it. I watched A fall in love with B, C stop talking to D, myself completely ignore E and so on. I'm in the middle of it, so perhaps it's okay to say that I feel *involved* in people's lives :-) We have such silly reasons for break ups and mess ups too.
  3. There's no such thing as a free lunch. Someone somewhere will pay for whatever it is that "freebie" you're eating. Lunch, on the other hand, can be anyone's treat, provided they're willing to pay for it :-) And in Loughborough, the Lincoln (i.e. a restaurant in uni where people don't usually eat) is only open from noon to 2pm, hence why our lufbru lunch times & get togethers are always within that time span. But unfortunately, I haven't had time to bring people in together this semester.. should look into that soon.
  4. Dying your hair a dark colour will always result in it becoming dark for maybe a month and then back to a lighter shade after that. I think it's the water here? That or the shampoo I use is unsuitable. I've dyed my hair, probably 5 times over the past 2 years I've been here..and everytime I go for a dark colour, it'll turn lighter in a matter of weeks.

What will I miss once I've graduated?

The life style. Life here is probably divided into three S's: sports, study and I'll let you work out the last bit. I guess once this is done and over with, I'm more likely to be back home, twiddling my thumbs trying to decide which career path to take. To say I listen isn't even half of what really goes on in my life.

Who decides what I do?

It's certainly not me entirely because there's always someone nudging me on.

The thing about being here is that I'm independent (minus the phone calls telling me what I can or cannot do), no one watches over me and I can make decisions based on what I think. But sigh, whatever anyone else says is probably right anyway, shame I can't make my own mistakes though.

Bed for me now.

love,
yasmin.
